SYNTHESIS* These sketches and pictures were chosen from a series created and photographed almost twenty years ago. They were inspired or synthesized from a wide variety of photographs I found in newspapers, magazines and the garbage can of Elias’ studio! This is their first public exposure. Studying them now after they have spent the childhood and puberty of a well-kept secret I still wonder about their dissimilarity and begin to realize that every picture belongs to a larger one and at the same time begets a sum of smaller ones. Undoubtedly all kinds of pictures have an inexhaustible potential for metamorphosis through synthesis and analysis. I acknowledge that my exploration of visual art at that time was random and unmethodical……"but not uninteresting I hope".
